Favorite Children's Book

Page history last edited by Jessica Abbott 3 years, 5 months ago

Jessica likes reading:

There are Rocks in My Sock said the Ox to the Fox.

What a tongue twister.

My Lucky Day by Kieko Kasza, Guji Guji by Zhiyuan Chen, and The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Manus Pinkwater.  I like children's book that are a little bit subversive. --Mike @23

Sister-Ruth enoys reading the Captain Underpants series.  She says "There is nothing like a super-hero donning a pair of BVD briefs."

I also loved Pokey Little Puppy!  In addition I love There's a Monster at the End of This Book (with Grover), Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

I remember having the Pokey Little Puppy read to me when I was a child, and listening to it and turning the pages when I heard the pong as well. My current favorite is Beware of the Frog by Bee featuring Mrs. Colliewobbles. Now if I could make a pink frog outfit for Halloween, I would love it!

Chapter books I have wonderful memories of reading and rereading 5 Little Peppers and among the current books, I would include Aurora County All-Stars and Dragonsong which is the book that introduced me to Pern and the writing voice of Anne McAffrey. And while I enjoy her books, I can tell the difference when she is the main author and when she is when listed as the co-author of several of her books. And the heading should be favoriets, because we never have an absolute favorite! -- Joy C.

No single favorite, of course, but I have a soft spot for Go Dog Go! by P.D.Eastman. As a child, I loved the big finish: "A dog pary! A big dog party!" David A @ 25

Tacky the Penguin - I just love reading this one out loud!  Tacky is so funny!

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and any Carl book. I almost forgot any Toot and Puddle book too. Bits&Pieces

This is a tough one! Can I pick more than one?!

  • Charlotte's Web
  • Clip Clop by Nicola Smee
  •  ?

What's your favorite children's book?

Alice in Wonderland I think I can pin my travelust on this one!

One More Pair of Shoes Fav Children's Book:

A Monster at the End of this Book. Period. End of discussion.

Where the Wild Things Are ~ HHCMeg

The Secret Garden is the best book ever! -Janis

Rain Makes Applesauce was a book I enjoyed reading as a child. --gerald2.0

Danny the Champion of the World was another I read a lot as a kid. --gerald2.0

Monkey Napper loves...

Curious George by Margaret & H.A. Rey

Olivia by Ian Falconer

The Monster at the End of this Book by Jon Stone (I'm with you One More Pair of Shoes)

...and many, many more!

Up A Road Slowly I read as a young teen and it made quite an impression.  Of my daughter's books I loved the series of books Click Clack Moo and Duck for President.  They are funny.  -- sopranolibrarian

I still remember my 4th grade teacher reading us Charlotte's Web...one of my favorite's  and more recently, I would have to Lilly's purple Plastic purse.

I already put this in the other list, but my life is better because of "What will fat cat sit on?" by Jan Thomas. - Rebecca

twilight fan - The Story of a Little White Teddy Bear Who Didn't Want to Go to Bed - Dorothy Sherrill

I read Heidi by Spyri almost every year. Each time I read it I get something else out of it. Someday I will visit mountain villages in Switzerland and hike the mountain trails.

From the time I read The Witch of Blackbird Pond in the 4th grade, I read it annually all the way through college. It was definitely a favorite school age title. Of course, when my own kids got old enough, I read it to them too...almost the entire book one long winter afternoon.
